THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT ARLINGTON ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL (NON-TEACHING) JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Assistant Athletic Director, Operations CODE: 0723 FUNCTION: The Assistant Athletic Director for Operations will have primary administrative responsibility for such departmental operations as procurement services, processing payment for departmental goods and services, liaison with the Physical Plant for departmental maintenance needs and work orders, oversight for athletics equipment room services, supervision of the Events, Promotions and Marketing Manager, assistance with athletic training administrative issues and primary administrative responsibility for all home athletic event management. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as a member of the athletics administrative staff which determines strategic planning both short term and long range and addresses daily issues which impact the management and operation of the intercollegiate athletics program. Manages day-to-day departmental procurement services and the payment processing of departmental goods and services. Supervises the promotions program and the marketing of departmental activities by directing and supervising the marketing, promotions and events manager and the initiatives to generate support from external resources through increased attendance at athletics events and corporate sponsorships for intercollegiate athletics activities. Serves as the primary liaison with the Physical Plant in providing the proper maintenance of the intercollegiate athletic facilities and competition venues. Maintains internal controls in all accounting and business procedures. Assists with addressing athletic training or sports medicine related issues which impact the health care of all student-athletes. ACCOUNTABILITY REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS REPORTS TO: The Director of Athletics SUPERVISON: Marketing, Promotions and Events Manager INTERNAL CONTROL: Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that department operations are effective and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, department financial information is reliable, and the department complies with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. WORKING CONDITIONS : After hours and evenings required for supervision of home athletics event management. Occasional travel to conference championship athletics events. Occasional travel for continuing education meetings or NCAA or Conference meetings as a representative of the institution. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree and at least five years of experience in some administrative capacity in intercollegiate athletics.
