Personal Computing Specialist III Purpose Purpose: The Technology Support Specialist Supervisor is responsible for providing advanced technical support for desktop computers, laptops, peripheral devices and associated software throughout the University Libraries. Essential Functions Function 1: Assist Libraries staff with advanced applications of personal computing equipment as it relates to the mission of the Libraries. 45 % Time Function 2: Diagnose and repair hardware and software issues of an advanced nature. 10 % Time Function 3: Research, evaluate, and recommend new personal computing technologies which would enhance Libraries services. 10 % Time Function 4: Ensure adequate inventory control of all computing equipment in the Libraries system. 10 % Time Function 5: Document procedures related to computer configuration and maintenance. 10 % Time Function 6: Supervise and train other technical support personnel within the department. 10 % Time Function 7: Participate in Library Systems _ Technology Department activities pertaining to organization, management, task assignment, and strategic planning. 5 % Time Function 8: % Time Marginal/Incidental Functions Marginal/Incidental Functions: Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Three years of course work towards a degree in a computer related field. Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, including Windows 7, experience with an extensive variety of computer hardware, software, and peripheral devices. this position requires an understanding of library operations, procedures, and policies. The position also requires an understanding of procedures for working with warranty and service providers. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree in a computer related field. Fundamental knowledge of computer networking. Knowledge of Microsoft SCCM. Knowledge of Apple OSX operating systems.
