Projects vs. Exhibits Project Area: A 4-H project area is an area of interest in which a 4-Her enrolls, studies, learns, keeps records, and possibly exhibits. A 4-Her can complete work in a project area without a exhibit resulting at the County Fair. Some Examples of Project Areas include: Visual Arts, Photography, Beef, Swine, etc. A complete list of project areas is in the Pick a Project newspaper publication. Exhibit: A 4-H exhibit is an item resulting from a project work in a project area. The 4-Her may choose to bring an exhibit to Static Day (non-livestock judging) to be evaluated by a judge and then display the exhibit during the fair. A 4-H exhibit should be the best example from the project area that the 4-Her can showcase to show their knowledge or skills gained by working throughout the year in a given project area. 4-H Exhibit examples: Mounted photograph Derby Swine Pig/Pigs Plate of banana bread Poster explaining cost comparison of 2 kinds of cake mixes A refinished desk A flower arrangement Exhibit possibilities are limitless
