Greene County Extension Families Coordinator Job Description This part-time position works closely with County Extension Coordinator to implement families educational programming in Greene County. It is under general supervision of the County Extension Council and direct supervision of the County Extension Coordinator. This position includes networking with volunteers and professionals to plan, implement, and evaluate a progressive series of educational programs for families in Greene County. Position is approximately 20 hours per week. Job duties include, but are not limited to: Families Programming Coordinate with Regional Human Sciences Program Specialists and County Extension Coordinator to plan, develop, and implement research-based families programming that meets the needs of Greene County Facilitate educational programs for families that promote the latest research in family development Develop and/or utilize local committees and councils to facilitate community involvement in families programming Facilitate a families program plan based on locally identified needs and issues Build collaborative relationships with other agencies, organizations, and service providers to multiply effectiveness and avoid duplications of programs Provide family-related subject matter to parents, agencies, and other interested citizens Disseminate families research information locally Cooperate with other Extension personnel to develop strong, integrated Extension programming Represent Greene County Extension to local families-related agencies and educational institutions Assist families and service providers in troubleshooting problems and arriving at a solution, or connecting with appropriate specialist for further help Clerical Provide general office assistance when needed and/or in the absence of the Office Assistant Provide immediate assistance to families clientele as needed/requested Maintain mailing lists/labels, material preparation, and follow-up for families programs Assist with event registration, program hosting, and follow-up reporting Write a monthly summary report of activities, trainings, and accomplishments for Extension Council personnel report Professional Development Develop and follow a personal professional development plan consistent with personal and organizational goals Participate in regional and/or state families program activities as appropriate and needed Maintain positive working relationships with all county and state Extension staff Publicity Regularly update Greene County Extension website with latest news, events, and information related to families Publish and disperse a monthly newsletter to Greene County organizations and interested families. Assist in creating news releases and publications, as needed, to promote families programming in Greene County Qualifications High school graduate, prefer associate’s or bachelor’s degree in families subject matter Knowledgeable and supportive of total ISU Extension & Outreach program Ability to relate, respect, and appreciate volunteers, community leaders, and service providers People oriented, skilled in customer relations Willing to cooperate as a team player Resident of Greene County preferred Job Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Computer skills (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, Internet Explorer) Working knowledge of office equipment Filing and organizational skills Problem-solving skills and ability to work on multi-tasks simultaneously Self-starter – able to initiate work, without direct supervision Benefits Hourly wage, funded by county funds, commensurate with experience and education On-going in-service training related to job responsibilities Employer’s share of Social Security, IPERS and Medicare Reimbursement for work related travel and meals Sick leave upon appointment to regular-time status Annual leave (vacation) upon appointment to regular-time status Employee Personnel Handbook Greene County Extension is an Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
