RECORD BOOKS
All record books are due to
your club
leader(s) by September 15.
It is important to
keep records and complete your record book.
Record keeping is a lifetime skill that you will use
during your entire life. Please complete your
records and have them evaluated by turning your
record book in to your leader. We have attached
a record-keeping guide and evaluation form.
We recommend that you use the computer forms.
These forms may be obtained at:
http://www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/page/recordkeeping
Please keep in mind that you need
to turn in your record book to
receive premium from the fair for
your exhibit(s) this year.
LOCAL 4-H NEWS
MONTGOMERY 4-H COUNTY YOUTH COUNCIL
The County Council is an important part of our
County 4-H Program. They help plan and conduct
several events for 4-H members on a countywide
basis. They also help with many things at the
county fair, 4-H Fun Night, and the 4-H Awards
Event. Members must be in 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th
grade.
We would like every club to have at least
one representative on the county youth council.
You need to have completed a record book and
turned the book in to your leader by September
15, in order to be on the County Youth Council.
After you notify the Extension Office that you
have turned in a record book and that you are
interested in being on the county council, you will
need to fill out an application. Please let the
Extension Office know by September 15 who will
represent your club. Also, make sure that you
present names of those who will attend the
meetings!
LOCAL 4-H NEWS
4-H AND YOUTH COMMITTEE
We would like each club to be represented on the
4-H and Youth Committee. Each club should
have one youth and one adult on the committee.
Please decide who will represent your club by
October 1st. They meet the third Wednesday of
each month at the Montgomery County Extension
Office at 7:00 p.m.
Montgomery County Extension’s goal is
to have 50% youth and 50% adults on the
committee. Please help us out!!!!!!
This year again we want
only one adult and one youth
per club!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MISSIONh empowers youth to reach their full potential
working
AND LEARNING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CARING ADULTS

NATIONAL CATTLE CONGRESS SCHOLARSHIPS
The National Cattle Congress will be hosting the Iowa Supreme Junior Champion Dairy Heifer
Scholarship Show at their fair in the fall. National Cattle Congress and the National Cattle
Congress Dairy Committee believe this is a way for kids from all across the state to come
together and meet others with similar interests. Our hope is for them to enjoy their experience
and share and learn from one another and most importantly have FUN!
Like last year, the National Cattle Congress plans to continue this annual event for the kids
involved with dairy projects through 4-H and FFA. NCC will once again crown a State Wide
Supreme Junior Champion Dairy Heifer, as well as a Reserve and Honorable Mention. The
winners will receive scholarships for college. Eligible participants for this particular event must
be a member of an Iowa 4-H Club or FFA Chapter and must have won their county Supreme
Junior Champion or Reserve Supreme Junior Champion of all the exhibiting dairy breeds. (Each
County must crown an Overall Champion of the breeds to qualify.)
