The office

Narrator：Biz Work Inc. has a new president and also a new sales representative.
Unfortunately, both are named Terry, so when the new president,
Terry Blake, arrives, everyone thinks she is Terry Smith, the new sales
representative.
Tracy Fields meets Terry Blake at the door.
Narrator：Biz 商業公司同時有了新的董事長和銷售員，很不幸的，他們的名字
都叫做 Terry，所以當新的董事長 Terry Blake 到達公司時，大家都以
為她是 Terry Smith，新來的銷售員。
Tracy Fields 在大門口和 Terry Blake 見面。
Terry：Hi, my name is Terry -Terry：你好，我的名字是 Terry –
Tracy：Terry Smith, the new sales representative ? Nice to meet you ! I’m Tracy
Fields.
Tracy：Terry Smith，新來的銷售員，對吧？很高興認識你，我是 Tracy Fields。
Terry：Nice to meet you, Tracy, but –
Terry：很高興認識你，Tracy，但……
Tracy：No buts about it. Now, let me show you around. This is our reception area,
and our conference room is right over there.
Tracy：沒有但是。現在，我來帶你認識一下環境，這是我們的接待處，還有我
們的會議室就在那邊。
Terry：This is a nice office.
Terry：這真是個不錯的辦公室。
Tracy：We don’t really like it… but don’t tell management . Now, over here is the
sales department.
Tracy：我們其實沒有很喜歡…但不要告訴經理。現在，這裡是銷售部。
Terry：Really? It’s quite small.
Terry：真的？它有點小呢。
Tracy：Yeah, I guess we haven’t made enough money to get a bigger space. You can
make copies and send faxes over here.

Terry：It look like you guys work hard.
Terry：看起來你們都很認真工作。
Tracy：Not really. We just mess things up so that it looks like we work hard. Now,
you cubicle is over there, but first, the most important room…
Tracy：其實不然。我們只是弄得亂亂的看起來像我們在努力工作，你的辦公

Terry：What’s that?
Terry：那是什麼？
Tracy：Why, the break room, of course.
Tracy：怎麼這麼問？當然是休息室。
Terry：Hmm…This isn’t a bad way to learn about the company.
Terry：恩…這的確是認識公司的好辦法。
The company

Narrotor：Tracy continues showing Terry Blake around – thinking that she is
Terry Smith.
Narrotor：Tracy 繼續帶 Terry Black 參觀，以為她是 Terry Smish。
Tracy：Those are all private offices -- the managers’ offices. Stay away or they’ll
make you work.
Tracy：那些全是私人辦公室，經理們的辦公室，離他們遠一點不然他們會給你
工作做。
Terry：Hmm… Tell me more about the company’s operations.
Terry：恩…告訴我更多公司一些公司的運作情形。
Tracy：Sure thing. Here in the sales department, we do all the work.
Tracy：當然。這裡是行銷部我們做所有的工作
Terry：Really? What about management?
Terry：真的？那管理部門呢？
Tracy：Management? They just hang around in meetings all day talking about how
to spend the money that we bring in.
Tracy：管理部？他們只會整天開會討論要如何花掉我們賺的錢。
Terry：Really?
Terry：真的？
Tracy：Yes. And the personnel department is down that hall . They spend the day
creating new forms for us to fill out.
Tracy：是的。而人事部就在走廊末端邊，他們整天都在製作新表格要我們填寫。
Terry：I see…
Terry：我懂了…
Tracy：Now shipping and customer service are both downstairs.
And here’s a pamphlet telling about our product distribution,
manufacturing, and quality control systems.
Tracy：現在運輸和客戶服務都在樓下。這裡有本小冊子寫著我們產品的分配、
製造和品管系統。
Terry：Wow, this pamphlet’s great.
Terry：哇，這小冊子真不錯。
Tracy：I spent a month putting this together. What a cushy assignment! But just
between you and me, I think the new president will promote me.
Tracy：我花了一個月把它們完成。真是個輕鬆的任務！偷偷跟你說，我覺得新
的董事長會升我職。
Terry：I don’t know about that…
Terry：這我就不知道了…

Narrator：Now, Tracy brings Terry into the break room, where they meet some
coworkers
Narrator：現在 Tracy 帶 Terry 去休息室見其他同事。
Tracy：This is our most important piece of office equipment – the coffeemaker .
Tracy：這是我們辦公室最重要的配備，咖啡機。
Terry：Don’t you ever work?
Terry：你們都不用工作嗎？
Tracy：I try not to. Oh, Ben, let me introduce you to Terry. Terry, this is Ben.
Tracy：我試著不去做。噢，Ben，讓我將你介紹給 Terry 認識。Terry，這是 Ben。
Ben：Hi, Terry! It’s nice to meet you. Let’s sit down. The new president is coming
and I want to hide. I hate working.

Tracy：Ha-ha! And Terry, this is Carla. Carla, Terry.
Tracy：哈哈！Terry，這是 Carla。Carla 這是 Terry。
Carla：It’s a pleasure to meet you, Terry. Of course, anything is better than
working.

Terry：The pleasure is all mine.

Tracy：OK, Terry, tell us about yourself, Let’s get to know each other.

Terry：All right. I’m married. I have two children. I graduated from Biztown
University, and before this, I was president of a computer firm.
Terry：好吧。我已婚、有兩個小孩。我畢業於 Biztown 大學，來這裡之前，我

Tracy：President?
Tracy：董事長？
Ben：But you’re…
Ben：但你是…
Carla：…our new sales representative.

Terry：No. Actually, I am your new president. I’m Terry Black, not Terry Smith.

Tracy：Oh no…We’re fired, aren’t we?
Tracy：噢不…我們被開除了，不是嗎？
Terry：No, actually I’d like to thank you. Now, I know exactly where employees
waste their time on the job. I’ll be able to make some important changes
to make our company more efficient.
Terry：不，其實我很想告訴你。現在，我知道員工都把時間浪費在哪裡了。我

Tracy：Uh-oh!
Tracy：噢~不！
