Evaluation Tips Tips What Tips Can You Add? 1. Be intentional with your evaluation planning. (Is it cost effective?) 2. Use even numbered responses versus odd numbered responses. 3. Know your limitations of collecting quality data. 4. Know the difference between program satisfaction versus program evaluation. 5. Provide enough important details of the evaluation to your audience – to help them determine the merit. 6. Use caution in reporting findings and drawing conclusions. 7. Have someone unfamiliar with the work you do review your initial evaluation to see if they understand what you are asking. Involve this person as well when crating your final results version. Be open to suggestions for improvement. 8. When working with young kids (K-3rd grade) consider using drawings as a way for them to evaluation your program. Many time younger kids can better express their feelings/perceptions through art – than written survey. * Presentation Resources: Iowa State University Extension and Outreach – Learning Circle for Evaluation University of Wisconsin Extension – Program Development and Evaluation * Evans, Williams; Reilly, Jackie. “Drawings as a Method of Program Evaluation and Communication with School-Age Children”.
