SEE ATTACHMENT FOR DETAILS OF THIS TRIP. This is a walking trip in the
Maasai Lands of northern Tanzania. Beginning from Mt. Longido, we will continue
mostly on foot across the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Our destination will be the
mountain massif - the Crater Highlands and the Ngorongoro Crater. We will have
Maasai guides. We will learn about the culture of the Maasai both past and present as
well as learning about the terrain of semi-arid acacia bush, volcanoes, fumaroes, and
mountain ranges…all distinctive features of the Eaat Africn Highland Plateau. We will
walk 10 to 20 kilometers each day. 4x4 support will always be available for those not
able to complete a day's walking itinerary.
Leaders will work with Gane and Marshall to assure the best flight options. The group
may rendezvous in London and take the same flights to and from Tanzania. Again, the
leaders will work closely with Gane and Marshall to obtain best flight options.
We will be staying in tents provided by our outfitter. Our last night will be in a lodge.
Depending on flight arrival times, participants may need to stay one overnight in
Nairobi. But, the plan is for all flights to arrive in the mid-late morning of Day 3 [Day 1
on the attached itinerary].
All meals are provided by the outfitter.
