Fly to Wellington, New Zealandand meet outfitter guide. Tranfer by ferry to Picton on the South Island. Travel by water taxi to Ships Cove and start 70km trek on Queen
Charlotte Track staying in full service lodges on the track. Travel from Portage by outfitter bus to trailhead for more remote 2 day trek on Nydia Bay Track staying in a private Lodge. While out to Tennyson Inlet and transfer back to Nelson. Explore Nelson area, travel down west coast exploring Punakaiki, and hiking Cape Foulwind,Trumans
Track and Porari River enroute to Fox Glacier and 1/2 day guided hike on Fox Glacier.
Continue traveling by outfitter bus to Queenstown with Matuktuki Valley jetboat ride to remote valley hike, followed by hike to Rocky Mt and Diamond Lake enroute. Drive to
Milford Sound for overnight cruise on the Sound followed by hike to Key Summit via
Routeburn Track. Travel back to Queenstown for flight home to USA.

The participants must be able to demonstrate that they can hike at elevations above 2000 ft and distances greater than 4 miles on exposed and rocky terrain. A guideline for hiking abilities will be supplied with the prospectus so participants can rate themselves.
Leader/co-leader will follow up with AMC local chapter contacts to see if participants will be a good fit for this trip. Phone calls will be used if uncertain about abilities and being a group player.

Discussion and education on "Leave No Trace" as well as hiker etiquette, and techniques for glacier hiking. The main recreation will be hiking with the opportunity to visit a glacier in a rainforest setting. There will be discussion on glacier ecology as well as bird identification, conservation and environmental responsibility.

Intermediate to advanced intermediate hiking skills required of all participants. Health conditions will dictate what level participant will be allowed to hike. Must be a group player and not an individualist.

Petty theft via pick pockets at airports/major cities are always a concern when traveling.

All clients are covered by the NZ Accident Compensation Commision. This provides a full Search & Rescue and Evacuation coverage which is operated by the NZ POlice
Dept. In such an emergency, Adventure South management staff have a hands on liaision role between th eclient, AMC and the clients family
This tour covers much of the South Island - in particular the South Island. Our SOP paperwork contains a full list of all medical centres throughout the South Island and of course we have 24 /7 back up with the head office.

Group Trip Deposits

Outfitter will be paid in New Zealand $. Exchange rate as of 4/22/2014 is 1 NZ$= 0.86 US$
Will use an exchange rate of 0.90 US$ per NZ$ with a 4% contingency rate.
10% of outfitter fee witll be due 5 months prior to start of trip, balance due 60 prior to start of trip.

If you cancel after being accepted for the trip, $200 is non-refundable. But if you cancel after May1st, 2016, minimally $400 is nonrefundable; if (and only if) another person takes your place. We will establish a waiting list. Should another person replace you, you will be charged only the $400 cancellation fee. However, your cancellation shall not raise the cost of the trip to any of the participants or trip leaders.
Thus if you cancel and are not replaced, you will forfeit the $400 plus the per capita expenses already incurred and any other unpaid expenses for which the trip cannot
Minimum numbers
Will you still run the trip if you do not get the minimum number? obtain a refund. You may forfeit the entire trip fee. Flight tickets once purchased become your property and are generally non-refundable. We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance. Information on a company recommended by the AMC will be sent to the participants. Please note: The price of this Adventure travel trip is given in good faith based on current tariffs and rates and is subject to change. Any tariff/rate increases will be passed on to participants.
