Shuttle to Seward, where we spend 3 days, taking boat tour to Kenai Fjord National Park and hiking. Return back to Anchorage and rent the car to drive to Wrangell – St. Elias national park where we do another backpack. We will have 2 evenings in the village of McCarthy where we have a chance to mingle with local people and learn about history and culture of McCarthy. We will be experiencing a place very different from where we live and pre-trip recommendations for reading on the history and ecology of the area will be made. Also we will take advantage of US Park Service information and presentations. Itinerary will include visit to several national parks and guided boat tour and possible visit to the gold mine.
