Proposal to lead trip to India
Leaders propose to lead a trekking trip to Ladakh, India, followed by a cultural trip to the
Golden Triangle of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.
Proposal, budget and preliminary itinerary are provided.
Trip Summary
Also known as Little Tibet, the awe inspiring high-altitude plateau of Ladakh sits
between the world’s two highest mountain ranges – the Karakoram and the Great
Himalayas. While politically Indian, it is geographically and ethnically Tibetan. We will
spend four days touring Buddhist monasteries and other sites in Leh and Ladakh to
acclimatize to the altitude (11,500’). We then spend six days trekking in these beautiful
mountains and valleys. On the fifth day of the trek we cross 17,409’ Kangmaru La Pass.
After the trek, we fly to Delhi, and spend the next six days visiting historic and cultural
sites in Delhi, New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Highlights include visiting the Taj Mahal,
both at sunset and sunrise; visiting the Red Fort (where Nehru unfurled the flag of newly
independent India in 1947); Agra Bear Rescue Facility, Agra Fort; Fatehpur Sikri
(UNESCO World Heritage Site); Amer Fort; elephant ride in Aravalli Hills; Pink City of
Jaipur; Kite making and flying with local family.
During the trek, we will be camping. All the other accommodations will be in four-star
hotels.
