Day 1 and 2: Travel to Christchurch.
Day 3: [LD] Arrive Christchurch. Travel to Kaikoura. A choice of snorkelling with
the local fur seals or hiking the Kaikoura Penisula to watch another colony of fur
seals.
Day 4: [BLD] Travel to Blenheim, visit the Forrest Estate Winery, and then
proceed to Saint Arnaud to commence the three day hike on the Angelus Circuit.
Destination is Lakehead Hut on Lake Rotoiti.
Day 5: [BLD] Hike from Lakehead Hut to Angelus Hut with an elevation gain of 3280
feet.
Day 6: [BLD] Hike out along the Robert Ridge with views of Tasman Bay and the
mountainous Kahurangi National Park in the distance. Back in Saint Arnaud, we head to
the West Coast desination of Punakaiki.
Day 7: [BLD]Hike Punakaiki rainforest by hiking the Inland Pack Track. Then travel the
coaastline via Hokitika. Destination is the township of Franz Josef where we will stay
for several nights.
Day 8: [BLD] Kayak Okarito Lagoon and later hike the coast forest to Three Mile
Lagoon.
Day 9: [BLD] The day will be spent hiking at Franz Josef Glacier to either Alex Knob or

Roberts Point.. If rainly, we do a shorter walk to a view of the terminal face of Fox
Glacier, hike around Lake Matheson and visit the Blue Pools near the Haast Pass.
Optional Heli-hike option [$350 plus tax] A less strenuous, but scenic option to helihike on Franz Josef Glacier with proper equipment and under the guidance of specialist
glacier guides. After, the entire group continues down the coast to Makarora, a small
farming villiage bordering Mt. Aspiring National Park. We will stay at a family
homestead.
Day 10: [BL] Arrive at Lake Hawea. We are outfitted with 21 speed front suspension
mountain bikes and cycle 10 miles along the Te Araroa track. After cycling to Wanaka,
we transfer to Queenstown via the Cardrona Saddle. We stay on the shores of Lake
Wakatipu.
Day 11: Free day in Queenstown. Participants may choose to relax or choose optional
activities including horse treking, a gondola ride, kayaking, fishing, winery tours,
mountain biking, etc. as well as exceptional hiking.
Day 12:[BLD] Hike Routeburn Track. Hike on the Routeburn Track for views of the
Hollyford Valley as well as Lake Marian and Mt. Christina. . We will then transfer via
the Homer Tunnel for a descent to the Milford Sound.
Day 13: [BLD] This day will be spent exploring Milford Sound from both the water and
on land. We begin with an early morning guided kayak trip. This is followed by an on
foot exloration of the flora and fauna unique to this area.
Day 14: [B]. We have a leisurely start of the day as we transfer to Queenstown for
departure to the USA unless staying to extend the trip on the South Island or venture to
the North Island.
All hikes are 4-5 hours long except for Day 4 which is approximately 3 hours long.
Optional tent camping on the Angelas Circuit. Optional non-participation in 10 mile mt.
bike and kayak activities- alternative activities available.
Accomodations are in lodges, hotels, bed and breakfast lodgings, huts [tent
option] and a family homestead. All are arranged by our outfitter.
All meals are included except our free day in Queenstown and dinner the night before.
All transportation will be with vehicles provided by our outfitter including being
picked up from and returned to the airport.

The New Zealand adventure industry makes conservation a top priority. Our
outfitter likewise has a history of conservation. All our events are eco-friendly
and conscious of the envioronment. Using local guides assures that our
participants will have ample education regarding the country's preservation and
conservation, and the unique eco system of New Zealand.

As Janis and I begain to talk about this trip, we decided to work with an outfitter as

several of the actiities were not the typical activities undertaken by USA tourists visiting
NZ. We decided on the Angelas Circuit which is less travelled. Overall, even though
Janis has been to New Zealand before, we felt that no one knows New Zealand better
than a Kiwi. There are so many cultural, scientific, and environment aspects that might
easily be overlooked without the assistance of an excellent outfitter.

Response
Hiking, mountain biking, and kayaking carry an inherent risk of injury. The trip
leaders are WFA and CPR certified and will be carrying basic first aid kits and
communications gear (cell phones, 2-way radios). Safety talks will precede each
day’s hike, ride, or kayak adventure, and a review of emergency procedures in
accordance with the our established protocol. Additionally, we have experienced
guides who will be sharing appropriate procedures and protocol. Guides will also
be carrying emergency equipment and devices deemed necessary by them.

COST AND BUDGET DETAILS
We have worked very closely with Matthew from Adventure
Travel to get the best price possible for this unique trip. We have
reduced our original quote by several hundred dollars to give us a
trip that we think is exceptional and of good value to our
participants. Our base cost is $2699 plus 15% tax for a total of
$3104. Our quote is in U.S. dollars. We are able to pay by check
drawn on TD Bank thus avoiding transfer fees.
$500 per person when group has been established. Balance due 60 days
prior.

Full refund if the trip does not run. Once a trip has been confirmed to run with
a sufficient number of partcipants, no refund will be available unless another
suitable participant can be confirmed. Once that participant is confirmed and
monies deposited, a refund will be issued. Refunds will only be refunded to the
extent that the cost of the trip for other participants is not affected. Participants
are responsible for their own airline tickets. Most domestic airlines no longer
give refunds for cancellations; instead, they issue coupons for a future trips
with an administrative charge of $100.00 and an expiration date. Trip
cancellation insurance is advised and policy information is supplied to all
participants.
