This is a two part trip. Part 1 is to Peru with a flight into Lima. Part 1 splits into
two parts and participants will choose either A or B. In the visit to Macchu
Picchu, both A and B groups will fly to Cuzco. Group A will hike the Inca Trail
while group B will tour Cuzco and Sacred Valley and participate in a
reforestration project and take the train to Machu Picchu. Both groups will tour
Machu Picchu and climb Wayna Picchu. Part 2 of the trip will be on Easter
Island. A four day tour will take us to the major attractions [see prospectus for
details of Group A and B and Easter Island] Group A and B will be separated for
5 days in Peru. One leader will accompany Group A while the other will be with
Group B. We anticipate that both groups will be evenly split at 7/7. 6/8, 8/6, 9/5,
or 5/9 due to the nature of the trip's options. Knowing that trip safety is imperative
to any AMC Adventure Travel trip, if the ratio splits out differently, we will
consider the option of taking just the larger group OR going to a higher number

professional guide as well as the AMC leader which essentially makes it the
equivalent of a single leader trip. We are aware this thas occurred on more than
one occasion on trips of this nature, that is trips accompanied by professional
outfitters and guides. The Inca Trail is well designated, has very delineated
hiking protocol and destination points much like the hiking in New Zealand.
Permits are set for a specific time factor and are supervised by the state system
as well as the guides and porters. All guides are multi-lingual and have expertise
in specific areas of ornithology, history, or archaeology. All guides have First Aid
and emergency response training and equipment.
3 star hotels with en suite baths, as arranged by our outfitter. Tent camping for
those hiking the Inca Trail.
All breakfasts and some lunches will be included. Dinner will be included for
those hiking the Inca Trail. All dinners not included will be coordinated by the
leaders and paid for by the participants and leaders.
All transportation will be provided by the outfitter. This includes transfers to and
from the airports, tour vehicles in Peru and Easter Island. Internal air in Peru is
arranged by the Peruvian outfitter through their partner consolidator. In both
locations, drivers must carry a special driving permit for tourist vehicles.

Hiking at high altitude requires a complete understanding of possible hazards
and risks, as well as appropriate conditioning. Screening will help in this regard
as well as adequate medical advise and possible medication. We and the
outfitter have build in days for aclimatization for higher altitude hiking.

We will plan a gathering in CT. In all likelihood it will have a short hike followed by a
group dinner.
This trip meets the mission of the AMC in that it includes physical activities
respectful of the environment as well as cultural aspects in both locations. While
other AMC trips have been led to Peru and Machu Picchu, we think this is the
first proposed AMC trip to Easter Island. The outfitter has a social and
environmental business practices operating policy. [See the website for this
information] Materials in this regard will be part of the predeparture materials
provided by Adventure Life. Adventure Life uses a supplier on the Inca Trail that
uses the best porters and contributes to sustainable travel. This supplier has
helped design some of the volunteer programs in the villages where the porters
come from and has assisted them in developing their own tourist infrastructure
(camps, alternative trek, etc.)

The very nature of the Inca Trail, trail permits, conservation efforts, etc. is best
done under the supervision of a responsible outfitter. The same holds true on
Easter Island. We found that we could not arrange Easter Island hotel rentals,
vehicle rentals, and guides for less that our outfitter could provide. In fact, it was
going to cost at least $200 more per person. Also, porters, guides, and trail
permits for the Inca Trail are best supplied by a reputable outfitter. We chose a
company that met our needs based on many searches and inquiries. This
company has been in business for 12 years and takes care of 2500-3000
travelers per year. We have testimonials contacts from many past clients.

The outfitter has a 24 hour on call operations staff member. Field staff carry
radios and phones. Travel insurance is recommended for evacuation. The
outfitter has a policy concerning medical care delivered during a trip including
medical equiment, Gamov hyperbaric bags for high altitude, etc. The outfitter
also provides a booklet including helath preparation tips for the areas visited.

On Easter Island, 4 wheel drive vehicles are typically due to the state of roads and access
