the park. Potential hazards relate to throughway and mountain driving.
Will utilize van drivers who are experienced with mountain driving and throughway

Level of fitness, screening concerns, experience with equipment or activity
Intermediate to advanced intermediate hiking skills required of all participants. Health

Careful screening: application response, phone calls, chapter feedback, recent excursions
(local and ME), list of hikes done in past 2 years. Participants will need to be up front
and accurate with all health conditions and medications. Participants must be a group
player, if not they will put the groups' safety in jeopardy and this would not be
acceptable.
Conditions unique to this type of trip
Hantavirus exposure
Handouts (generated by Yosemite Park Service and obtained through their website) sent
to participants along with original trip prospectus, medical forms, application. have
advised all participants to plan on bringing a "cookie tin" or heavy duty plastic container
to store all food items items in the bear box so that their food will be rodent proof and
prtected from contamination with infected rodent droppings and urine. Will also advise
participants to keep their packs in the bear boxes so as to not attract rodents in their tents
and to leave window and door flaps of tents open to maximize air circulation within the
tents. Yosemite personnel have also increased their cleaning protocols within each tent
since the Hantavirus outbreak of 2012.
