Monona County Project Award Guidelines Grade 4 through 12 These awards are divided into three categories: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Each of the categories are available to all stated grade levels and contain some of the same items to be completed. All awards can only be earned once at each level in the different project areas. Basic Requirements Minimum Requirements by Level Bronze Silver Gold 1. Be enrolled as a 4-H member one year two years three years 2. Must actively participate in club meetings and activities during the year required required required 3. Must participate in club and county activities Includes activities during years enrolled in 4-H one club or one county or out-of-county two club and one county or out-of-county two club and two county or out-of-county 4. Completed a yearly 4-H Summary or Story required required required 5. Participated in the project 1 year 2 years. 3 years 6. Set and attain project goal(s) for specific award areas at least one is required. at least two are required; at least one must be new for current year participate in one experience out of the three (citizenship, leadership and communication) related to the project area participate in two experiences out of the three (citizenship, leadership and communication) related to the project at least three are required; at least two must be new for current year; must show growth in project area participate in all three experiences out of the three (citizenship, leadership and communication) (See project award application examples) 7. Tell about your citizenship, leadership, and communication activities. These opportunities can be done at the club or county level, as well as at school, church or within the community. Includes activities during years enrolled in 4-H (See definitions and project award application examples) 8. Completed exhibits/learning experiences during the years involved which may or may not have been shown at the fair (See project award application examples) at least two required area related to the project area at least four required at least six required 1 - 4 required for Completion Award 1 - 8 required for Project Award Definitions: -Communication 4-H is sharing ideas and skills you have learned with others. Communications include presentations such as a talk, demonstration, working exhibit, share-the-fun, newspaper article, radio, interviews, etc. these should relate to the project area in which you are working towards an award. These can be at any level of participation: local, county or state. They may be presented to your club, at school, or a church or community event. -Citizenship Citizenship includes those activities you participate in that are done to help others. These may be individual acts or services or club and community service projects. These should relate to the project area in which you are working for an award, or you may complete a Citizenship project area which include all of your experiences in the area of Citizenship. You may also direct a project area concerning local, state or national participation in government. Citizenship may also involve area of service or interest pertaining to History and Heritage, Natural Resources and Human Issues, Current Events and Political Issues or Personal Development Issues. -Leadership Leadership includes offices held, committee responsibilities, as well as playing a role as a leader in specific opportunities that arise for the member. Leadership is a relationship between people. The role of leadership may be in teaching , mentoring, or organizing and delegating responsibilities for certain events or programs. Clarification: Recognition is not based on record keeping/record keeping is used as a resource Goals should show growth throughout the years goals have three parts that can be measured or checked and over which you have control 1) the action: how you will do something 2) the result: what you will do 3) the timetable: when you plan to have it done Example: (1)”Learn how to read a recipe and use it to (2) prepare a meal for my family (3) for Mothers’ Day”
