It is considered part 1 or a two part trip [part 2 will go to southern Croatia a year or two following.] Participants will begin and end their trip in Zagreb, Croatia as it has the easiest, cheapest, and most direct air flights from the United States. Transfer will occur by bus between Zagreb and Pula from where the bike barge trip will commence and end. We will rent the entire boat that holds a total of 20. Although we will go with 14 participants, we expect to fill this trip with 18 plus two leaders. This will be guide supported once we reach the boat. Half board [breakfast and dinner will be provided on board each day. A dinner and lunch allowance will be provided for the other days/evenings using TD Bank debit cards [as used successfully on the Tuscany 2015 trip]. This is level 3 riding on a scale of 1-5. We will ride a total of 140 miles over 6 days. The longest day will be 34 miles. 2-3 star hotel in Zagreb. Barge accomodations: twin rooms with en suite provisions. For these, we have used an exchange rate of Euro to dollar of 1.30. [We think this is a high exchange rate based on 2015 into 2016 and to date. For the past year the exchange as remained between 1.05-1.14. The euro is predicted to come to equal the dollar or close to it during this coming year. We have also built in a cost of living increase.[see cost proposal]. Although hotel reservations have not yet been made, it is conceivable these can be paid in the local currency, euros, or dollars. $5000 November/December 2016. As a result, no deposit will be made unless we have the number of full number of applicants who have been screened and accepted with a trip deposit. $1000 with application; $1000 Jan. 1, 2017, balance of $1260 April 1, 2017 Full refund if the trip does not run. Once a trip has been confirmed to run with a sufficient number of partcipants, no refund will be available unless another suitable participant can be confirmed. Once that participant is confirmed and monies deposited, a refund will be issued. Refunds will only be refunded to the extent that the cost of the trip for other participants is not affected. Participants are responsible for their own airline tickets. Most domestic airlines no longer give refunds for cancellations; instead, they issue coupons for a future trip with an administrative charge of $100.00 and an expiration date.
