To lead a major excursion you must have current CPR and WFA at the time of your trip (or AWFA for all backcountry
trips). If you do not have the required level of certification at the time you submit your proposal or it will expire before
the date of your trip, you will need to make arrangements to recertify in a timely manner.

Bob lived in Southern California in the mid 1970's and hiked in the area
Executive summary
Please provide a brief
description of the trip and the
activities planned.
Fly into Fresno, rent cars and drive to Grant Grove in King's Canyon NP. 3 nights in
Grant Grove. Choice of day hikes to Sequoia groves, to Kings Canyon and to Mt. Alta.
A visit to a limestone cave is another option. On forth day, drive to Silver City in the
Mineral King district of Sequoia NP. Stay 5 nights. Mineral King offers 11 steep alpine
trails which traverse the eastern areas of Sequoia NP. On the last day, drive back to
Fresno and depart.
9/1-4 Grand Grove - 5-8 Rustic Cabins, each with 2 beds and shared bath facilities (3
nights). 9/4-9 Silver City Resort - 2 adjoining chalets, each sleeping 5 and full kitchen (5
nights) and a historical cabin sleeping 4.
In Grant Grove, breakfast and dinner at a local restaurant. In Silver City, we will shop
for groceries and prepare all meals in the chalets with the leader supervising and rotating
chefs. All trail lunches prepared by participants in the mornings before hikes.

Pre-trip education in bear and mountain lion safety and reviews on the trail. Prepare
