This trip will be day tripping into mostly non-tracked ski areas in the Eldorado National
Forest, to the south and west of Lake Tahoe to such locations as the Luther Pass area,
Carson Pass area and South Lake Tahoe

Weather is always a potential factor on winter trips, too much snow, too little snow,
avalanche danger

Change plans; ski more locally; hunker down and revise itinerary. The first step to
minimize analanche hazard is through judicious selection of daily tours, based on
guidebooks and research. Initial avalanche conditions are always assessed each morning
prior to leaving the lodge by checking the California Avalanche and Weather website
and verified on snow. Too little snow will require travelling farther and higher
