Snowbank Lake Trip. See last page for detailed itinerary. Note: we will camp close to
the put-in the first night in case one of the participants misses a plane and can arrive by
the next morning.

Kevlar canoes with paddles, carry thwart and lifejackets. We will screen for canoe
paddling skills. We will teach canoeing skills, safety skills in the water and portage
technique at a pre-trip gathering. We will also have a safety drill and teaching of portage
technique at the beginning of the trip.

Previous backpacking or other wilderness camping experience. Able to swim. Able to
paddle and maneuver a canoe. Able to paddle up to 6 miles per day. Able to portage the
canoe either solo or with a partner multiple times per day. Will accept both experienced
pairs and individuals if they have the required skills. Individuals accepted would be
contingent on setting up pairs.

A day in which we canoe together on a lake, do some safety drills, learn how to portage
and create a meal together.
Teaching canoeing skills, strokes, experience in bow and stern, rescue skills, portaging
skills. Co-leader has extensive interest in birding and digital photography. If
participants are interested, educational sessions can be offered in both areas. There is an
extensive history in the area, both the early French explorers and fur traders, and later
efforts to preserve the land. We could present some fireside talks about history and
conservation.

We are using an outfitter to provide canoes, gear (particpants may bring their own
sleeping bag and tent) and food and transport to the put-in and take-out, but there is no
on-trip guide.

permit ($128 + $12 processing fee). Balance due outfitter upon our arrival.
Outfitter will refund all but $45/group if cancellation occurs more than 45 days before

The first two days would be short paddles with one medium portage each day. The third day would not
be long in miles but would have 5 portages of shorter length. We would stay at the same campsite for
night 3 and 4. In the rest day, there would be an option to stay in camp or do a day paddle to a nearby
lake. The fifth day would have 4 portages of short to medium in length and the last day would have 4
portages of short to medium length.
