Platform tents or cottages as provided by the Cinnamon Bay Campground.
2 group meals are included in the group budget including "get acquainted" happy hour
provided by leaders at campground, Shipwreck restaurant dinner, and Caneel luncheon
buffet. Participants and their tent/cottage mates are to provide for their other meals. The
campground has a restaurant that serves 3 meals daily. There are opportunities to shop in
Cruz Bay for food provisions and there are opportunities to dine out in local restaurants
as well. Typically participants prepare their own breakfasts and trail lunches.

This trip is designed for participants to experience the natural history, flora, and fauna of
St. John through participation in daily hikes and snorkel trip led by AMC leaders and

National Park Rangers. Participants will learn about the unique vegetation that varies
from one side of the island to the other and explore ruins from the sugar plantations. In
addition, participants will have the option of signing up for a morning to volunteer with
the National Park and Friends of the Virgin Islands in possibly clearing trash on the
Brown Bay or trail maintainance work.

Written & verbal instruction will be given to participants stating they must ALWAYS
use the buddy swim system. Leader or co-leader will be present at all scheduled snorkel
trips. Proper footwear will be recommended for day hikes. Extra water and sun lotion
will be brought on all planned outings along with a first aid kit.

Drivers will be used on a voluntary basis and given written/verbal instruction on safety
procedures. Any driver not complying will have driving privileges removed. Insurance at
rental companies will be purchased. In addition to giving verbal instruction regarding
driver responsibiilites and driving conditions, leaders will distribute a written policy
regarding expectations including restrictions regarding drinking alcoholic beverages
when operating as a designated driver.

$300 initial deposit by Sept. 1. $600 air September 15 2009. Balance of trip fee due
January 18, 2010.
Cancellations prior to December 1st will be entitled to a refund on money deposited with
the AMC less a minimum administration charge of $100.00 plus the cost of air ticket if
already issued. Economy tickets are non-refundable except for serious illness
substantiated by a doctor’s letter.
Cancellations from December 1st to 30 days before departure will be subject to a
$200.00 charge, and within 30 days a $500.00 charge, plus any penalty assessed by the
airline for canceling an issued ticket. Most domestic airlines no longer give refunds for
cancellations; instead, they issue coupons for a future trip with an administrative charge
of $100.00 and an expiration date. Trip cancellation insurance is advised and we can
send you a sample policy on request. No refund can be granted after the trip has begun.
