A full entree of day hikes, animal spotting, and socializing on this energetic and lively trip to engage with other like minds and active adventure outdoor enthusiasts. We will be hiking marked and maintained trails through the remaining bounty of the summer wildflowers and socialize in the evening. We begin in Edmonton visiting Elk Island where there is an abundance of Woods and Plains Bison, Moose, Elk, Deer, Mountain Goat, etc. There after we meander onward to Jasper for a few days and work our way down to Lake Louise and Banff continuing on our wildlife safari of Marmots, Mountain Goats, Big Horn Sheep, Wolverines, and more Elk.. and day hiking adventure before returning to Edmonton for concluding. RISK ASSESSMENT Please assess the risks/hazards of your trip. Carefully consider each area of risk and how it may affect your trip with specific potential hazards. Then, devise a plan to attempt to prevent each hazard and to respond to it if it becomes necessary. A) Climate/Terrain Potential Hazards: Snow in August. All hikes are on marked trails no more difficult than in the Presidentials. Response: Unlikely but possible. We will have layers to dress in and will be observing weather forecasts for each hike day. We will be equipped with map and compass to help ensure we are on the trail. B) Foreign Countries Potential Hazards: Canada is not known to be a threat to America citizens (at least not yet). Mad cow disease possible in nearby area Response: We won't order beef from stock tainted with Mad Cow disease C) Transportation Potential Hazards: May not have van available upon arrival. Breakdowns. Running out of fuet. Response: There are at least five other car rental agencies in airport. Carson has a valid AAA membership for breakdowns and fuel outages. We will check the fuel levels frequently. D) Participants Potential Hazards: Rude. Medical. Psychotic Response: Any trouble makers will be taken to the side and dealt with individual. Medical forms will be screened carefully and any potential problems will be gone over prior to the trip. Carson is an NLP practioner and will perform an intervention at no charge with psychotic indiviuals using pattern interupts and matching and mirroring techniques prior to calling in professional help and the park or city authorities. E) Other Potential Hazards: Animal Encounters Response: Being that we aim to have a sizeable group (16 or more) we do not anticipate any animals approaching us. They will be instructed before hand what to do if we encounter any large potentially dangerous wildlife. 5. EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN Please describe your plans for dealing with emergencies. Please use as much detail as possible and attach additional sheets if necessary. A) Emergency Communication We will have the phone numbers for the park police and hospitals for accidents. We also have emergency evacuation coverage. Areas we will be entering will all be with in several hours of public health facilities, park rangers, and first responders. We will be doing all day hikes on groomed marked trails and have cell phones. The hikes are less than 14 miles, usually 8 miles which means no more than 4 miles in. We will NOT be in outback wilderness area. Vans will be parked at trailheads and designated area we are hiking will be in the van. B) Evacuation All day hikes on mapped hiking areas. We will have emergency evacuation insurance. If a person needs to be beamed out we have ten people in each group so 9 people can be involved in carrying the litter. Trails are easy to follow and maintained. No bushwhacking required. C) Medical Care Local hospitals and clinics nearby in Edmonton, Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff. We are NOT out in the wilderness area it is all park land off the Columbia Icefields Parkway or in Edmonton. Before you leave for you trip, you will need to provide a list of participants and their emergency contacts in case something happens to someone in the field as well as an itinerary with phone numbers (where available) in case something happens at home. 6. COST INFORMATION A) What deposits are will be required from airlines, hotels, outfitters, etc. (and when): Mostly verbal or credit card with a deadline approx 30 days prior to cancel without penalty B) What is the latest date for you to cancel and get a full refund? : 30 days prior to event C) What is the value of the deposit you will require of the participants? $ 100 D) What will be your cancellation policy for the participants?
