SECA 2015
Sample Communication from Agency Leader(s)
September 2015
Dear [Agency Name] employees:
As public servants who each do our part to achieve common goals, commonwealth
employees are experts at teamwork. However, imagine if we applied those skills beyond
our daily work projects and applied them to make a greater difference. This year, the State
Employee Combined Appeal (SECA), Pennsylvania’s annual charitable giving campaign,
invites employees to “dream big” and imagine how each of our donations will come together
to make a “big” impact.
I hope you’ll join me by giving any amount that is meaningful to you. Even $1 per pay can
make a difference – whether it is two days of food for a hungry family, five blankets for
people who have lost their homes, or one week’s worth of dialysis medication. Every
donation will make a difference toward meeting our agency goal of $[XXX].
[Insert personal comments about why charitable giving is important to you, the agency
head.]
It’s easy to donate to SECA. You can elect to have your donation easily deducted
(beginning in January 2016) from your bi-weekly pay, or you can make a one-time donation
check. New for this year, one-time donations can also be made via payroll deduction. All
options are available via ESS or a paper pledge form. Your donation can be designated to
one or more charities, which are listed in the Resource Guide.
Employees who give just an hour or half-hour of pay per month are recognized as
Governor’s Circle and Gold Givers. ESS will calculate your minimum leadership giving
amount, and you can also read more about leadership giving here.
If you have questions about SECA or would like to learn more about how to make a
donation, please contact our agency SECA coordinator, coordinator name at XXX.XXX.XXXX
or XXX@state.pa.us.
The 2015 SECA campaign ends October 30. Please consider joining me and “dreaming big”
this year for charity!
Sincerely,
[Agency Head Name & Title]
