APPROVED 1/28/2013 County Youth Coordinator Job Description Fremont County Minimum Requirements At least one year post-secondary education or relevant job experience Knowledge and/or experience as a member or volunteer in the Iowa 4-H program Successful Child Protection Safety Policy (CPSP) background screening Valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation Resident of Fremont County preferred Job Skills Ability to communicate orally and in writing to youth and adults Experience in organizing activities, events, and in working with groups Computer skills Filing and organizational skills Problem-solving skills Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously Self-starter – able to initiate work without direct supervision Cooperates well with others – a team player Dependable General Duties Plan, coordinate, promote and deliver countywide youth & 4-H programs Oversee all tasks relative to the 4-H program at the Fremont County Fair Oversee all tasks relative to local 4-H program at the Iowa State Fair Coordinate and oversee 4-H County Council Coordinate and oversee County Youth Committee Receive and follow up on client requests in a courteous and timely manner Maintain correspondence with 4-H members, leaders, Extension staff and public Organize and assist with volunteer recruitment, training and screening Utilize volunteers effectively; provide appropriate training and support to volunteers Implement youth audience recruitment plan Identify, organize and mobilize resources for youth and 4-H groups Approach program development with creativity and youth-as-partners mindset Report activities and program impact to Program Coordinator and/or Extension Council Report statistical information as requested/required to ISU Extension & Outreach and Iowa 4-H Oversee 4-H Online, maintaining updated and accurate data; provide 4-H families with the necessary information to use website as intended Maintain office workspace, program materials, appropriate records and files APPROVED 1/28/2013 Utilize appropriate strategies to secure public and private program support; assist in grant writing and fundraising Coordinate media coverage for youth and 4-H program Utilize all supported software programs and computer network Acquire skills needed by participating in appropriate in-service training Follow all policies, rules and procedures as directed by the Program Coordinator and Extension Council Provide assistance and support for Extension programs as needed Assist Extension staff with maintaining an updated county website; upload 4-H and youth programming forms Other duties as assigned Benefits include: Hourly wage, funded by county funds, commensurate with experience and education On-going in-service training related to job responsibilities Employer’s share of FICA and IPERS Reimbursement for work related travel and meals Cell phone stipend Paid holidays Paid sick leave Paid vacation upon appointment to full-time status Health insurance stipend upon appointment to full-time status Reports to: Fremont County Extension Program Coordinator Fremont County Extension Council Work Hours Work hours are variable, including nights and weekends Work hours are expected to average 32 per week ISU Extension & Outreach - Fremont County is an Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
