HS&E Intern Description Position Title: HS&E Intern Position Location: Kankakee Business/Functional Unit: HS&E Department - 130420 Date: 11/30/2015 Position Purpose: Provide an overview of the responsibilities of the position by providing a summary of the most important aspects and duties of the position.( 1-2 sentences) CSL Behring provides an excellent learning environment for students interested in the safety field with backgrounds in disciplines such as engineering, occupational health, and science. Students are provided with tasks that are both technically challenging and educationally stimulating. Under guidance of the HS&E staff, the students will be assigned to assist with various projects such as Hazardous Energy Management, Industrial Hygiene, and Occupational Safety in manufacturing and construction project environments. Role that this position reports to: Director of HSE & Risk Management Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities: List the roles and responsibilities of the position 1 2 3 Perform general safety inspections and personal protective equipment reviews. Complete a daily work sheet and set number of audits per day. Interface with external organizations such as contractors and other internal organizations such as manufacturing, quality, R&D, maintenance, metrology, and utility services. Miscellaneous technical data generation and analysis; update word documents, electronic file generation, and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets in support of staff projects. Maintain control documentation and assist in updating HS&E Management Systems. 4 5 Provide HS&E support assistance for issues as required. 6 Performs other job related duties as required and assigned. Position Qualifications and Experience Requirements: Provide hiring requirements for the specified position, including educational, experiential, and competency requirements necessary for the position. Education Must be currently enrolled student majoring in Fire Science, Paramedic/EMS or other Engineering, Science, Safety, Occupational Health, or Industrial Science. Student must have completed their freshman year. Experience Competencies Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills required. Must display maturity and a high level of professionalism. Strong computer skills desired. Demonstrates acceptance of responsibility; shows pride in work performed; demonstrates flexibility in acceptance of assignments and schedules; maintains professional behavior and appearance; exhibits dependability. Additional Comments: $15/hour; required to work off hours such as 2nd and/or 3rd shift; work will be indoor and outdoor on the construction site (dress for cold weather); required to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) – safety shoes, safety glasses and hard hat at all times in the construction site area; know general OSHA regulations and the Standards CSL Behring follows and/or be able to find them if needed.
