Book Report Project Ideas
You are required to complete one project per quarter. If you do more than one book
report, you may choose the book you liked best for the project. If you only do one book
report, you must complete a project for that book. (Remember: Doing more than one
book report does earn you extra credit!!) Your grade for the project will be determined
using the rubric on the back of this paper. Be prepared to present your project to the
class.
1.Create a mobile for your book. Display all aspects of the book on the mobile (Story structure:
characters, setting, plot-problem and solution, theme?)
2.Make a collage of magazine pictures/computer pictures/drawings. Display all aspects of the
book in the collage (Story structure: characters, setting, plot-problem and solution, theme?)
3.Make a poster advertising the book. Display all aspects of the book on the poster (Story
structure: characters, setting, plot-problem and solution, theme?)
4.Make a story structure bag. Using a medium sized brown paper bag, decorate the outside
using each side for a different part of story structure. Put 3 artifacts inside the bag that relate to
the story – Be creative!! (Story structure: characters, setting, plot-problem and solution, theme?)
5.Create a Power Point presentation about your book – Be sure to include pictures and text.
6.Write a visual book report/mini-book. Draw a picture for each major event (minimum 6) that
best retells your story. Be sure to write a caption for each picture.
7.Retell your story in newspaper/journalistic format. Reporters retell news events using who,
what, when, where, why, and how. Include a title, a picture, and a caption with your newspaper
article.
8.Interview your main character. Write 10 carefully chosen and scripted questions and answers
that your main character would be able to answer. With the assistance of a friend acting as the
interviewer, act out the interview in front of the class. You will take on the role of your main
character. Dress in one item that relates to your character.
