Unit Plan
Unit Title: an educational unit title summarizes content across several lessons that establishes and reinforces certain skills and essential knowledge for grade levels and

Unit Title: American Revolution
Essential Questions: Essential questions are concept in the form of questions. Questions suggest inquiry. Essential questions are organizers and set the focus for the
lesson or unit. Essential questions are initiators of creative and critical thinking. Essential questions are conceptual commitments focusing on key concepts implicit in the
curriculum
1. Why did Britain keep a tax on tea? How did the colonists react to this tax?
2. Describe the similiarties and differences between the comittees of correspondence and colonial minutemen.
3. Were the colonists successful or unsuccessful in their protests against Britains taxes? Discuss at least two reasons that back up your decsion.
4. If you were a colonists during the 1700’s, would you have chosen to be a patriot or a loyalist? Explain your decision using examples from the
chapter.

How did the capture of Fort Ticonderoga lead to American victory in Boston?
6. How did other nations help the colonies fight the British in the American Revolution? List at least 3 ways.
7. Members of Congress were very dedicated to the American people. Provide at least three examples of their dedication. ( 4 points) ( 8 minutes)

decision with a reasonable explanation to why you think this.

will do this by completing a journal entry that depicts these
events in their entirety.
Student will demonstrate speaking skills by presenting
during the revolutionary period by answering true/false questions.
This will be assessed during the end of chapter 8 and 9 test,
and will be graded using a key.

taxes called upon the colonists during the revolutionary period by
answering multiple choice questions. This will be assessed
during the end of chapter 8 test, and will be graded using a

restricted response essay. This will be assessed during the end of
chapter 9 test, and will be graded using a brief outline of the
intended answer. The dangers will be assessed in the mid
