CULTIVATING A COMMUNITY OF LEARNERS Flex Schedule and Workshop Descriptions Flex Facts What is a community? It is a group of people focused on sharing resources in their environment. At a community college our shared resources include knowledge, skills, support, and the respect and pride necessary to encourage mental and emotional growth. Members of a community develop emotional bonds as their individual intellectual skills are cultivated in response to their interactions with one another. Students, classified staff, faculty, and administrators all have critical pieces to contribute to this process, enabling us to become a true community of learners. Adinkra symbols are widely used throughout West Africa. The symbol on our front cover, BOA ME NA ME MMOA WO, means “help me and let me help you.” This symbol of cooperation and interdependence well represents the spirit of a community of learners.
