Ordering goods
預訂貨品
The topic we focus on in this unit is ordering goods. The situation we
have here is one when immediate purchase or dispatching is impossible.
There is also a small section on how to tell people that you think they
are speaking too fast.
這一章節裡，我們討論的是有關於訂貨的話題。我們現在的情況是直接購買或立
即配送是不可能的。還有一小段落是關於如何告訴別人你覺得他們說話太快。
Adrian needs to purchase some equipment for his company. He calls
the supplier’s customer service department and tries to place his order.
Adrian 需要去買一些配備給他的公司。他打電話給提供顧客的服務處，且嘗試
與他訂貨。
Charles:
Good afternoon, Orcas Instruments. My name is Charles, how may I
help you?
午安，Orcas 儀器公司，我是 Charles，我要如何幫你?
Adrian:
Hi, my name is Adrian Tang and I’m calling on behalf of Genuine Inc.
We would like to order 30 sets of your latest model.
嗨，我是 Adrian Tang 我是 Genuine Inc 的代表，我想要訂 30 套妳
最新的機型。
Charles:
Certainly, do you happen to know the product number of that particular
model?
當然，你知道這個特定機型的產品型號嗎?
Adrian:
I think it’s VWS222.
我想是 VWS222
Charles:
Thank you. Let me just run a quick check for you. Please wait one
minute. I’m sorry. It turns out that we are out of stock for that item at
the moment. We just dispatched a very large order and that cleared us
of stock.
謝謝，讓我為你快速的核對一次，請稍候。很抱歉，結果現在我們
的那份產品現在已經沒有庫存了。我們剛配送了一個大訂單，清光
了存貨。
Adrian:
So right now you have nothing?
所以現在什麼都沒有嗎?
Charles:
We do have three left, but they are being held for another customer.
我們還有剩下三個,但那是為了保留給其他客戶的。
Adrian:
How about if you sell one of them to me? Or tell me who’s the buyer
and I’ll buy it off of him.
那能不能賣一個給我或者是告訴我買方是誰? 我要從他那收購下
來。
Charles:
I’m sorry, but what you’re asking for is simply impossible.
我感到抱歉，但你所要求的事情，根本不可能。
Adrian:
Oh, I’m sure we can work something out.
噢，我肯定我們可以想一些辦法
Charles:
I’m really sorry, we are all out. But I’ll let you know as soon as the next
shipment arrives.
我很抱歉，我們現在什麼都沒有。當貨品到達時，我就馬上告訴您。
Adrian:
Do you know when that’s going to happen?
你預計何時會到達?
Charles:
They are expected to come in three weeks.
預計進貨時間為三個星期。
Adrian:
It takes that long, huh?

Charles:
I’m afraid so.
恐怕是這樣。
Adrian:
Do you think it’s possible to have them delivered to me before the end
of this month?
你是否認為可以在本月底之前將貨品送達給我嗎?
Charles:
Normally it only takes two days for us to dispatch the items. I think if
the shipment arrives on schedule, you’ll receive your goods a couple of
days before the month’s end. Would you like to place an order now?
通常我們運送貨物的時間只有兩天，我想如果貨品準時到達的話
你會在月底前幾天收到貨。您要不要現在訂下訂單？
Adrian:
Yes, please. I’d like to buy thirty sets. Do you think I can get a
discount?
是的，我想要買 30 套，這樣可以拿到折扣嗎?
Charles:
Well, we don’t give discount on prices anymore. However, since this is
a purchase of more than 15 units, you’ll get a six-year full warranty
instead of the standard two-year warranty. This includes six years of
regular maintenance and parts replacement, all free of charge.
恩，我們不給予折扣的價格。但是只要買 15 套以上，你就可以得
到一份為期六年的全面保固，而不是標準兩年的保修，在這六年
裡，定期保養與替換維修零件，全部免費。
Adrian:
Okay, just as well.

Charles:
I’m going to put you down for thirty sets now, is that ok?

Adrian:
Yes, please do that for me. And could you see if there’s something you
can do to make the shipment arrive sooner?
摁，請幫我訂。你可以看看有何方法可以使貨物更快到達?
Charles:
All the dates for delivery are tightly scheduled, but I’ll see what I can
do about that. It’s going to be difficult, but at least not entirely
impossible.

Adrian:

Adrian and Charles are talking on the phone. Adrian finds it difficult to
understand what Charles is saying.

Excuse me, do you mind speaking slower?

Charles:
Oh, I’m sorry. Was I speaking too fast?

Adrian:
A little bit. But mainly because we have a poor connection right now
and the words are coming out a bit choppy.
(Alternative) It’s a little embarrassing but my English isn’t so good so it
would really help if you could slow down a little.
有一點，但主要是因為現在我們的收訊不太好，聽起來有些斷斷續
續的。(另一種說法)這有點尷尬，但我的英文沒那麼好，所以如果
你可以放慢速度，將可以幫到我。
Charles:
I see. I’ll talk slower then.
