Additional Information on Doane College Athletic Insurance
While participating in athletics at Doane College, each athlete must have primary
insurance coverage. The athlete cannot participate in any workouts (in or out of season)
conditioning, practices, scrimmages, or events until they have insurance. The policy, if
temporary, must last for the entire school year and athletic season (9-10 months). The
athlete will not be allowed to participate without proof that they have a policy for the
entire year.
Doane College does provide a secondary insurance policy but it is only to be used as a
secondary policy and cannot be used as primary insurance. It does have a deductible of
$1500 associated with it which is the responsibility of the athlete. Doane College is not
responsible for this deductible.
The secondary policy is here to assist you but it is very important that each athlete has
primary insurance coverage. Doane College is not responsible for medical bills that occur
as a result of participating in sports at Doane College. If the athlete arrives at Doane
College with a pre-existing condition, Doane College will not be responsible for medical
bills that occur as a result of that injury.
If you have questions concerning the Doane College secondary insurance policy please
call Greg Heier, Athletic Director, (402-826-8583) and he will try to answer your
questions.
