Large scale is the current of horizontal type, on the other hand, vertical type goes to small scale. Also, Vertical Axis Wind Turbine(VAWT) is divided to drag and lift type. Lift type is the main stream because of the advantage of coefficient. Moreover, lift type includes egg-shaped and straight blade. Since the manufacturing process of straight blade is easier than Egg-shaped blade, the development of trend is straight-bladed vertical axis wind turbine. However, the disadvantage of coefficient causes the bottleneck problem of development on straight-bladed vertical axis wind turbine. The purpose of this thesis is to concentrate on most commonly used NACA airfoil and to analyze the influence of torque and coefficient by variation setting angle which is under different wind speed and rotating speed. The thesis analyze the TW patents of variable setting angle vertical axis wind turbine, derive the mathematical model of torque for single blade, and analyze the range of positive torque value of blade. The result of wind speed, maximum torque, and the curve of setting angle could be the design data of variable setting angle straight-bladed vertical axis wind turbine.
