If you do not have any comments please check the “No comment” box. General “Sustainable Food Systems” Programme Feedback Feedback Question Select One Provide Your Additional Comments Having reviewed the draft Concept X Yes Note, does it adequately identify the No main global challenges for sustainable food systems? It needs to be made clear that food systems are not “sustainable” unless they provide adequate nutrients as well as calories. Is the concept note sufficiently clear on that point? Having reviewed the proposed Yes Vision and Goal, do they adequately X No address the needs of the global programme? The visión focuses on partnerships and protecting natural resources now and in the future - all good points – but some foods with low carbón footprint are not that nutritious (e.g. sugar) – so I would continue to stress the central role of nutritin and health in all of this. Having reviewed the proposed objectives, do they adequately address the needs of the global programme? I would like to see more emphasis on the development of sustainability metrics. Having an open-source inventory of data is clearly a prerequisite (line 158) – and there is much to be said for data collection (line 161) – but the development of metrics is the next step. They will not créate themselves. Programme Objective 3: No Comment Suggested Text Change Additional Feedback (check the box) (Please insert your text) (Please insert your text) Raise awareness on the need to shift to food systems that are both nutritious and socially, environmentally and economically sustainable and apply a systems approach to global food and nutrition security. Assess, categorize and disseminate actionable data and develop new metrics and methodologies to support governments, the private sector, consumers and other relevant stakeholders to act towards more sustainable food systems. 3 Programme Objectives Provide Your Feedback Programme Objective 4: Bring together initiatives and develop partnerships to build synergies and cooperation to leverage resources towards the mutual goal of promoting, enhancing and facilitating the shift towards more sustainable food systems Feedback Question Are there additional fundamental objectives that the programme should respond to in your view? Having reviewed the proposed work areas, do they adequately address the needs of the global programme? Bring together initiatives and develop public-private and other partnerships to build synergies and cooperation to leverage resources towards the mutual goal of promoting, enhancing and facilitating the shift towards more sustainable food systems Select One X Yes Line 120 was the only mention of the agro-food industry. Is that enough? Provide Your Additional Comments The development of suitable metrics seems to fit under 1, 2, or 3 – sort of – could it be made more of a goal? No Yes No Provide Your Feedback Programme Work Areas No Comment Suggested Text Change Additional Feedback 4 Programme Work Areas Provide Your Feedback (check the box) (Please insert your text) (Please insert your text) Use public-private partnerships to Increase the availability, accessibility and sharing of actionable knowledge, information and tools for SCP. Programme Work Area 1: Increase the availability, accessibility and sharing of actionable knowledge, information and tools for SCP. Programme Work Area 2: Encourage, facilitate and support inclusive multi-stakeholder dialogue to help inform interconnected policymaking towards sustainable food systems at local, national, regional and international levels. Programme Work Area 3: Facilitate the use and enhance opportunities for market-based and/or voluntary approaches throughout supply chain towards sustainable food systems. Feedback Question Are there other work areas you think should have priority, if so, what? Select One X Yes No Provide Your Additional Comments There are some mentions of the food industry but not much (line 120). I am assuming that “multi stakeholder” and “market-based” are code words for industry involvement. How successful can a programme be without industry engagement? 5 Can you propose priority activities under the Work Areas, if so, what? X Yes No Back to the need for metrics in multiple domains – nutrient density, cost, social acceptance, land, energy and wáter use, greenhouse gas emissions, labor etc. Have they all been worked out?
