Director's Welcome Social Media

VOLUME 6, ISSUE 1, WINTER 2016
DEBBE SKUTCH, DIRECTOR
Director's Welcome
It seems everything is better with stronger connections. We are more
productive, more thoughtful, more organized (and have more fun!)
when we relate to our work peers and customers. Our recognition
event, Beyond Networking: Building Strong Business Relationships was
all about connecting with individuals, including finding commonalities,
differences, listening and enjoying getting to know people. Family
members working in a family business relate on a different level with a
long history of memories that shape those relationships.
Carrying on with this theme, the Center will be hosting a February
lunch forum highlighting award-winning companies that
demonstrate how addressing human resources makes a real difference
in their organizations. More information on this event and a
registration link is in the right column under the sponsors.
At the epitome of relationships and connections, our affinity groups are
going strong! We’re working hard to expand and elevate our 16 peer
groups, the Women’s Group and Senior’s Group. Getting to really know
your affinity group members and growing as an individual provides
leadership tools that serve us well at home, at work and in volunteer
experiences. E-mail us if you’d like information on joining a group!
We hope you enjoy the Center programs and affinity groups as much as
we do. We look forward to seeing more of you this spring!

Beyond Networking: Building Strong Business Relationships
We set the bar high this year at our annual recognition celebration. As
always, we began by honoring our Advisory Board, and outgoing
member, Chris Smith, The Fremont Company. Then the fun began.
Scott Newsom .419.321.1438
Instead of the usual presentation, we decided to do “speednetworking”, a way for members and sponsors to learn more from each
other through a series of creative and fun activities facilitated by UT
communication professionals, Amy Capwell and Fatima ShousherSimon. There were eight tables, each with a different activity,
facilitated by a PR student. We laughed, learned, shared, and laughed
some more. The evening definitely provided a foundation for more
meaningful relationships.
