From both humane and regulatory perspectives, it is essential that all principal investigators and all personnel proposing to conduct research projects using live animals be appropriately trained and approved by the IACUC prior to any contact with the animals. The requirements for (final) IACUC approval are as follow: a) The person(s) must have a formal relationship with UT (faculty, staff, registered student, volunteer). b) The person(s) must have completed DLAR training. c) The person(s) must have an Exposure Profile and Health Questionnaire on file with the Health and Safety Department. 2. Requests to add personnel to an existing approved protocol should be submitted to the IACUC on the “Protocol Amendment Form: Change in Authorized Personnel List,” RGA430.doc, which is available on the RSP website. 3. A change in the protocol’s Principal Investigator must be reviewed by the full IACUC.
