Required live-in position that oversees the day-to-day operations and student development mission of a University
residence hall building(s) and grounds from 300 - 1040 residents.

Assist in the investigation of policy violation, damage, thefts, etc. Follow up with
appropriate staff and students to determine accuracy.
Support a discipline system that encourages responsible student behavior.
Participate in development and implementation of University Housing policy.
Inform staff of procedural and policy changes.
Respond to emergencies on a twenty-four hour live-in basis. Staff must be able
to respond to duty calls throughout campus.
Create, design and implement along with area coordinator(s) and other
management staff in University Housing a yearly developmental plan for the hall
that focuses on creating a community of learners that encompasses the entire
hall operation and its daily operation.
Plan, direct, and support educational, academic, personal, and career decisionmaking programming for respective buildings in collaboration with the Residence
Life Programs staff.
Advise, direct, and provide leadership to building student government
association(s).
Participate in the development and implementation of academic initiatives and
living-learning communities; including maintaining effective working relationships
with learning community liaisons.
Assist residents in resolving housing, general living, personal and academic
problems and refer to appropriate advisory services.
Respond to inquiries and complaints from students, staff, and public (including
parents).
Showcase University residence hall facilities and services to prospective
students, parents, and the University community through admission tours and
new student orientation.
Provide direction, assignments, feedback, and coaching to assigned staff such
as Resident Assistants, graduate assistants- assistant hall coordinator, unioncontracted staff and/or student staff to assure outcomes are met.
Ensure appropriate staff coverage in building or building complex.
Manage the day-to-day operations of a University residence hall building(s),
grounds, and staff.
Prepare and oversee the preparation of special and periodic reports.
Maintain appropriate administrative records.
Assist in maintaining an acceptable level of appearance of the interior/exterior of
buildings and grounds and communicate with custodial operations and
maintenance management staff for major problem areas (i.e. newspapers,
overflow of trash, garbage on sidewalks/stairs, major repairs). Propose
improvements to halls.
Provide supervision to graduate assistant-assistant hall coordinator, resident
assistants, student staff and support staff as assigned.

 Recruit, select, supervise, train and evaluate desk staff. Recommend
disciplinary action, including termination of employment of student staff.
 Direct, schedule, assign, and monitor the work of information desk.
 Assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of training workshops and
in-service sessions prior to and throughout the academic year.
 Instruct the Resident Assistant training class which meets each semester.

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of related education and supervisory
experience.
Reasonable (1-3 years) experience in staff supervision, programming, university
administration, budget management, knowledge of student development and first year
student transition.
Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively
transmit, receive and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through
appropriate communication methods and behaviors at a working proficiency level.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, etc.) software applications.
Demonstrates a working proficiency in the ability to work with variety of individuals and
groups in a constructive and civil manner while appreciating the unique contribution of
diverse individuals.
