The Analysis of the keywords is as the statement. With the higher-valued keywords, I was led to find more clues of the 20 TED talks. For instance, I listed the examples of the sentences out of the curiosity over the relationship between the topics and the keywords. For example, it reminded me of the topic“ health” when I saw those words, stomach, sleep, and body. I selected those sentences, including keywords, to do analysis to support my ideas and to lead to a well-organized explanation. All those keywords, which relate to the efforts we should make and knowledge we should know in order to keep healthy. Hence, Exercise, were mentioned for many times. The keyword, should, was used to indicate suggestions and advice of doing something. The keyword, will, implied that some results would come out because of taking some advice or suggestion from the speaker. Comparing the using of They with Their shows that a speech needs to provide some other people’s experiences or examples to convince and persuade the audience. The using of This, always refers to the point of the topic, and the using of That is to give some extra explanation. Further, the using of We made the way to deliver a speech similar to an informal talk. Sometimes I feel it is kind of encouragement of doing something together. The other keyword, Our, also catch my attention. The using of Our is because the discussed topics are always talking about some issues or problems we care about. Around our surroundings, life is everywhere; topics are everywhere. That is to say, topics are mainly about people’s needs and beliefs in order to catch the listeners’ attention and win their agreement. ● The design of the program, AntConc, provides a convenient way to download the files and do analysis of the contents of each Talk. By choosing a keyword, the relationship between the text and the key sentences is shown. The key ideas are easier to be revealed in the process of keyness analysis. Sometimes, it depends on personal preference. According to my personal experience, I am more sensitive to the information, related to health. Hence, the keywords of the topic, such as stomach, sleep, or body, may attract my attention. For some other examples, most women may have more responses to the topic “ The way to make yourself look younger?” or “The way to lose weight.” That is because their pursuit of appearance beauty. Keywords actually show some clues, which guide the audience to get the speakers’ points quickly.
