Population
The indigenous people were the first people to live on the island. Today, there
are officially 14 tribes, and indigenous people make up about two percent of Taiwan’s
population.
The Truku tribe, living mostly in Hualien, It’s hard to understand what you want
to say! Situated in the Eastern part of Taiwan, Hualien has about 20,000 people. It’s
one of the Formosan languages, specifically a subgroup of Atayal commonly referred
to as Seediq. It’s well-known for facial tattoo.
The Thao, the smallest indigenous tribe in Taiwan, it has only about 200 people,
the Thao live mostly in and around Sun Moon Lake. People usually depend on fishing
and tourism for a living. The population of the Thao is declining. The government
should put more effort on reserving its culture and customs.
