University Libraries and Archives William Allen White Library Cable Television Use Policy The William Allen White Library lobby features a television equipped with cable. Please see the following guidelines for use of the television. 1. Channels to be shown during library hours are selected for their relevance to news, information, education, and access to ESU and Emporia community events. 2. Channel selection is at the discretion of University Libraries and Archives full-time personnel and may change without notice. 3. University Libraries and Archives full-time personnel reserve the right to select programming at all times, especially in situations where danger exists. Examples of such situations include, but are not limited to: Weather emergencies International emergencies National emergencies State emergencies Local emergencies 4. Groups that have reserved the White Library lobby for activities are welcome to use the television in the lobby for televised events relating to the scheduled activity. The primary purpose of the television in the lobby is for academically-oriented activities. A reservation form for the lobby is located at the Outreach Services site. Reservations may also be made by calling the Head of Outreach Services at (620) 341-5480. When reserving the lobby, requestors must indicate if they wish to use the television for the related activity. 5. During library hours, the television is normally set on closed-caption and the remote control is kept at the Circulation Desk. Sound on the television is permitted in certain circumstances, such as emergencies, activities supervised by University Libraries and Archives full-time personnel, or groups that have reserved the White Library lobby for activities. At any time, the use of sound will not be permitted to disrupt library services or patrons. 6. All groups using University space are expected to adhere to the laws of the State of Kansas, all local and federal laws, and general policies, regulations, and guidelines of the University Libraries and Archives and Emporia State University. Failure to comply with these regulations may result in forfeit of the privilege of utilizing University facilities. Approved Fall 2006
