應英二乙 方筑誼 How to Cook Coffin Bread (Kuan Tsai Ban) Coffin Bread is a special snack from Tainan, Taiwan—the city I was born in. So, it seems natural that I know how to make this snack. Before making it, we should prepare some ingredients. We have to buy toast, but do not slice it. And we should get 150 grams of shrimp, a little bit carrot, corn, lily buds, green onion, ginger garlic and two cups of chicken soup. In addition, we have to get a teaspoon of salt, monosodium glutamate, some sesame oil, pepper, and potato flour handy. After that, we can cook Coffin Bread. First, we slice a loaf of toast into some big square pieces. Each one should be 5 centimeter thick with a 2-centimeter-thick layer as the cover. Then, deep fry the toast until it turns golden. Second, fry carrot, ginger, green onion and garlic. Remember, we have cut them into small dices or pieces. Then, pour chick soup into the pan, and then corn, lily buds, and the last one shrimp meat. About two minutes later, add some condiment to make them like cream. Cook them for three minutes. And finally, scoop all the food out of the pan and put it into the fried toast. Then get a knife and fork, and we can enjoy the delicious and special snack.
