Medical: 0 Time KS3/ GCSE Unit: KS3 – substitution. Learning Outcomes: Level 4 - use symbols to represent unknowns and variables. Level 5 – in context use formulae that are expressed in symbols. Level 7 – generate formulae in context. Lesson Phase: 1110 Prepare for Learning Be in corridors to meet and greet. Here are some letters and their values – what is the largest number you can make? Can you write a formula for it? How close to 100 can you get? 1125 The Big Picture Farm context - I do not want to give too much away at this point. So we will discuss the starter and move on to the objectives. 1135 Agree Learning Outcomes Graded differentiated lesson objectives within the PowerPoint Present New Information A brief discussion of the information they have been given and an outlining of the task. Construct Meaning I will be expecting them to make their own steps to level 7 with some moving onto more complicated (non linear) calculations. Present information in a poster form. Apply to Demonstrate 1235 Review Resources: Data and formula sheet, A3, colouring stuff, PowerPoint presentation. Each pupil will put a formula on the board an we will pick out some as a class to discuss. Key Words: Formula, expression, variable, equation. Homework: MyMaths Assessment for Learning (What questions do you plan to ask? What AFL strategies will be used?) Use of ICT Use probing questions within the PowerPoint, and during class and group discussions. Interactive whiteboard Collaborative problem solving The activity is to be completed in pairs. Accelerated Learning Which Leaning styles?: □Visual Poster work □Auditory Classroom discussions □Kinaesthetic □Olfactory □Gustatory Thinking Skills How HOT (higher order thinking)?: □Synthesis □Evaluation – Some reflection □Analysis – Mistakes and misconceptions □Application – Substituting □Comprehension – Real life applications □Knowledge – The rules involved. Differentiation How are differing, pupil needs being met? SEN - Different levelled questions/activites G&T – Extension tasks within activities EAL – Vocab defined with objectives LAC - Monitored group/pair work.
