Homework
1. Find a picture of another chair “near miss”.
2. Play the ESP game (http://www.gwap.com/gwap/gamesPreview/espgame/). Describe a very
easy picture that you were shown. Describe a very hard one. Why was the hard one hard?
(You may get some pictures that are so small or dark or fuzzy that you have no clue what’s in
them. Don’t describe such a picture here. We want one that you could easily see but could
not easily describe in a way your partner also chose.)
3. Pick a word (it’s probably best to pick a noun) and look it up in Wordnet
(http://wordnet.princeton.edu/). Click on the button labeled “Use Wordnet Online”. What is
your word? What are its hypernyms and hyponyms?
4. Consider Junior in the story, “Almost Human”. What seems to you to be the most important
difference between Junior and most of the other “creations” we’ve considered? Why do you
think that the trait you picked is important?
