History
• Green Island was originally a settlement of the Ami Taiwanese
aborigines. The island was known to these people as Sanasai.
Formerly known as the “Fire-Burned Island”.Green Island got its
present name on August 1, 1949.

by a major political prisoners have been abandoned.

Green Island Prison is a high degree of isolation prison management,
but also the last line defense of Taiwan's prisons.

The GuanYin cave
• The GuanYin cave is a typical karst topography landscape.
• The holes have a height of about one meter stalagmite, shaped
like a Goddess of Mercy, and feet stepping on a rock shaped like
a lotus.

• The hot springs exposed in the southeast side of Green Island.
• It is one of the three major undersea hot springs in the worlds.

• The Green Island Lighthouse is located in the Village next to the
northwest cape.
• It is the most beautiful building in the Green Island.

Green Island was once the exclusive preserve of human rights, as well as a symbol of the
white terror.
To commemorate the history of the human rights movement in Taiwan, and the park design
is simple and elegant.
