All scholarship monies will be awarded directly to the scholarship recipient upon completion of
High School and entrance to a College or University.
Applicants will be notified by email of the award. A formal presentation will be made to the
recipients at the Kappa Tau Omega Formal Tea, which will be held in May of 2009, the date will
be forwarded to award recipients.
Eligibility:
The applicant must be a 12th grade African American female with a minimum cumulative grade
point average of 3.0 on the university path.
Deadline:
April 30, 2009 Applications received after this date will not be considered.

2009 Constance Holland Memorial Scholarship
Dear Applicant,
You are applying for the 2009 Constance Holland Memorial Scholarship sponsored by the
Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. The Constance Holland Scholarship is a
$500, $250, $100, non-renewable scholarship.
Constance Holland was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She served as a Social
Science and English instructor throughout her teaching tenure and retired from Bloomington
High School South. She was a dynamic teacher being named Indiana Teacher of the Year 1982.
Among her many accomplishments she held many national sorority positions and was a charter
member of Kappa Tau Omega Chapter. She was a beloved community member, and friend. This
scholarship is in her honor.
The following are the criteria or requirements for high school seniors submitting an application
for the Constance Holland Scholarship. Failure to provide these criteria will eliminate your
application from consideration:

A complete application packet
Evidence of a cumulative average of 3.0
A composite score of 25 on the ACT or 1150 on the SAT
Two letters of recommendation from people in the community who know you well.
A recommendation by a teacher or former teacher.
An official transcript from your high school, to be mailed by the school to the stated
address.
7. A copy of the official letter from the admitting college or university.
We are a public service oriented organization. Therefore, it is important that you include any and
all public service activities in which you have been involved during high school.
Your application packet must be complete. Please be aware of the deadline. Any application
arriving after the deadline will not be considered.
Deadline for postmarked applications is April 30, 2009
