It is significant enough to positively impact business feasibility. Yes, approximately $60K is required to fund salary increase + fringe benefits for Associate Director. The costs will be paid through internal reallocation. CAB inquired as to how the internal reallocation will impact the UH Press. Cosseboom explained that while establishing an Associate Director position will create an expected increased cost of $60,000 over the current budget, the increase only represents 1.2% of overall sales for the department. He said increase will be absorbed by anticipated revenue generation in such areas as new business development, translation and other rights licensing, and expanded capacity in books and journals. Ultimately, establishing this position will create additional infrastructure and workflow efficiencies to increase overall publishing output, which are expected to further increase revenues and reduce fixed costs.
