1. Volunteer Services Assistant
This position is a great match for those who want to support the people who make the museum an amazing world class institution. Volunteer Services assistants support the Volunteer Team and volunteer programs through data entry, Internet research, mail preparation and file updating. No prior office experience is required, but computer and database experience is helpful.
Attention to detail and the ability to keep information confidential is a must.
2. Customer follow up by telephone at agency location. Requires good
communication skills
With Weatherization customers to determine the effectiveness of energy conservation education
With Case Management and Emergency services customers to see if they are need of additional services
With WorkPAYS employed customers to see if they are still on the job
With customers who express an interest in our Financial Literacy program
3. Tutoring with Adults (particularly Math) in GED program. Required 2 hours per week at agency location
4. Assist Community Development staff with advocacy efforts; internet research; setting up an email advocacy newsletter
5. Redesigning the Bulletin boards in our Main lobby
6. Coordinating a goods drive (clothing, food, household items)
7. Biology Exhibit Guide
Do you love learning and teaching about the human body and health? If so, then we have just the place for you. Our interactive exhibit is where visitors come to learn about the body, how it works and what keeps it healthy and well.
You will also perform demonstrations in our All About You window using teaching specimens and models. Engaging communications skills, enthusiasm, excellent customer service skills and a friendly personality are needed. An education and/or science background is a plus but not required.
8. Music Therapy
Music could be provided for senior who don’t get a chance to attend musical events in the community. Students might also interact with our residents by providing a weekly sing-a-long or other participative musical event that the student would plan using input from our seniors as to their interests.

9. Culinary Arts
Offer classes or one on one tutoring in simple meal preparation, especially focusing on good nutrition and using inexpensive ingredients for low income seniors.
10. Database Development
Create volunteer database in Microsoft Office Access. Data to be manipulated as directed by the Volunteer coordinator. Custom build database for ease usability with future possibility of website attachment and access.
11. Drawing Classes
Beginning drawing classes or drawing workshops could be planned and executed for residents who are interested and who may not have tried this type of activity. A once a week session where our residents have a guided drawing experience would be very much appreciated.
12. Media Development
Create promotional materials and media to be used during volunteer orientation with Powerpoint presentation, poster with artwork/graphics, and/or board designated for promotional fairs and presentations.
13. Inventory
Inventory stock in women and men’s storage area. Create inventory system and shelving
14. Gardening
Assist children with working in the gardens, photography, woodworking, nature trail adventures, cooking, and other hands on activities.
15. Letter Writing
Excellent opportunity for Developmental Writing student. Write letters to family and friends for elderly home-bound clients. Requires about 2 hours a week.
