Homework for Chem 101, Summer 2006
General instructions for homework:
Homework is posted in the class folder online, and is due each Monday at the
beginning of class. Each assignment is worth 10 points and the lowest score will
be dropped. You will be graded on completeness and quality of work. Neatness
will also be a factor (if it’s hard to read the grader gets cranky). You must show
your work in order to get full credit. Clearly set up the problem and then show
your calculations. Please box your answers. Write on only one side of each page
and staple all pages together before handing it in. Although you are encouraged
to discuss these problems, each student must write up their own assignment in
their own words (or numbers as the case may be), no copying! Only the
problems assigned as “graded problems” will be turned in and graded. You are
strongly encouraged to do all of the “suggested problems” as well, but please
don’t turn them in. You can check your answers to the suggested problems in
the back of the book. Also, full solutions are available in the study guide that
accompanies the book. I will post solutions to the graded problems after class
the Wednesday after the homework is due. Late homework may be handed in at
the beginning of the class period following the due date for a 1-point deduction.
No late papers will be accepted after the key is posted.
