My Favorite Singer/ Actor DAY 1. A. Discuss: - What are performing arts? - What types of performing arts do you like? B. Brainstorming in Groups of 4 – singers/bands/ actors - T introduces the title of presentation and 3 key points that must be included What should the intro include? – elicit ( presenter’s name, name of the favorite actor/singer, presentation overview) Overview: Part 1. - a short bio – how the singer/ actor started singing/acting Part 2. – what are the songs about / what type of movies is he/she in – ONLINE RESEARCH Part 3. – awards Conclusion – why did you choose to talk about this singer/ actor PARTS 1-3 – ONLINE RESEARCH – HOMEWORK !!!! – SS write OUTLINE -T emphasizes NO USE of WIKIPEDIA PARTS 1-3 DAY 2. Group discussion: (5-10 mins.) – report to class 1.Why do people watch movies/ listen to music? 2. What is your favorite kind of movies/ music? Explain why. 3. How often do you listen to music/ watch movies? 4. What is you least favorite type of music/ movies? Explain why. 5. Would you like to be a famous singer/ movie star? Explain why. 6. What are some advantages and disadvantages of being famous? Word association game – ball toss Practice time! - small groups – SS practice presenting in circles - simple rubric – mainly presenting skills (volume/eye contact/ posture/ no reading/ clarity/ organization) -SS in groups provide feedback to one another - T stays out of it – just monitoring DAY 4. DRESS REHEARSAL ---- YAY!!!! DAY 5. - Talk about PPT or Prezi slides – “less is more” – too much writing -> audience won’t pay attention to the speaker!!!! - T sets the limits – how much music can be played? / how long can the trailer be?
