This response asks you to reflect Great Writers on the Art of Revision, as well as this week’s
other readings about the revision process. Aim for at least 100 words for each response, not
including the quotes.
1. Choose one of the quotes from Great Writers on the Art of Revision and reflect on what
the quote has to teach us about the role of revision in the larger writing process. How
does the quote help you? What does it give you permission to do?
2. Now choose another one of the quotes, but this time choose one that strikes you as
counterintuitive or unexpected – that is, a quote that expresses a truth about writing
that you wouldn’t have expected before taking this class. Explain your reasons for
thinking this.
