Peer Review – Reflective Commentary

Read the essay once through, marking potential spelling, grammar, and punctuation issues. Pay special
attention to clarity, and mark even those things that may seem grammatically correct, but are not entirely
clear. Also be willing to make suggestions about word choice, encouraging active voice when possible.
Next, give the writer a reader response. Do you get a sense of the writer as a writer, reader, and thinker?
Have they presented a clear persona? Can you see some of the features of reflective writing we talked
about, like distance, specificity, critical self-awareness, and honesty? Share how you feel in response so
they can gauge whether they are achieving their affective goals.
