BSPS Membership Application Form
The British Society for Population Studies is a society of persons who have demonstrated by their
writings or otherwise a scientific interest in the study of human populations. The Society’s objective
is to benefit the public by furthering the scientific study of biological, economic, historical, medical,
social and other problems connected with human populations, and to contribute to public awareness
of these problems. BSPS members work in academia, local and central government, and industry
and include postgraduate students in all aspects of population studies. Benefits of membership
include first-call invitations to BSPS and other meetings, a regular Newsletter and circulations of
time-dated material, reduced registration fee to the annual BSPS Conference, and a reduced-rate
personal subscription to the Journal, Population Studies. Members are invited to participate in
BSPS consultations & networks with academic and government research.

emailed to pic@lse.ac.uk.
BSPS Council may request further information from any applicant to assist its consideration of their
application for membership. Membership applications & any requested additional information will
be considered by Council at ite next available meeting. Council meets on average three times per
year, with the Annual general Meeting being held at the Annual Conference in September.
Please note that all memberships run with the calendar year, from January to December.
