Consumers today, look for and expect ecommerce sites to have a credible privacy policy. They expect their personal information to be secure and respected. Following guidelines such as those developed by the Federal Trade Commission, as well as a variety of industry standards, GHS Law Partners will work with you to craft online privacy policies that protect both you and your customers. The FTC guidelines contain five principles of privacy protection that are used as the foundation of your online privacy policy: Notice/Awareness Choice/Consent Access/Participation Integrity/Security Enforcement/Redress In addition to these principles, any website that is directed to or that knowingly collects information from children must abide by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998. The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act requires these Web sites to: post a privacy policy explaining what information is collected and how it is used, get parental consent, allow parents to review the information collected from their children, allow parents to revoke their consent, and delete information collected from their children at the parents' request. At GHS Law Partners, we have worked with numerous clients to assure compliance with the act.
